Olympic Cauldron

Riverfront Plaza
Savannah, GA 31401

The Olympic Torch was erected in Morrell Park in August 1996. Its five columns represent the five Olympic rings, forming a pedestal upon which the Olympic torch burns. The five classical-style columns reference Olympic Greece and are enhanced with convex fluting. Surrounding the flame are billowing sails symbolizing the sailboats in the official Olympic yachting events held in Savannah in 1996.
