Home of the 39th President of the United States In 1975, Jimmy Carter began his race for the Presidency in downtown Plains with his campaign headquarters in an old depot. A block away is the high school where he graduated, and on the outshirts of town is the farm where he grew up. Today, all these places are open daily for visitors; and they can feel the excitement of the campaign, hear President Carter talk about life on the farm and sit in the classroom where he learned. Plains is a place of history and one of its makers still lives down the street. We invite you to visit Plains, home of our 39th President.
