Brochures: Visit Historic Richmond Hill

Richmond Hill is at the crossroads of I-95 and Hwy 17 on the Georgia Coast. It is 30 minutes or less to downtown Savannah, Hinesville, Pooler, Midway or Darien. If you have an hour, you can get to Tybee Island, Hilton Head Island, Pembroke, Statesboro, St. Simons, Brunswick or Jekyll Island. Visit to find restaurants and attractions or to book a room in one of our many hotels. Venture through small townships with traces of old plantation rice fields still clearly visible along the marsh, tour our art galleries and our museum, browse in quaint boutiques, and enjoy seafood and regional cuisine overlooking the Ogeechee River and in local restaurants.

You'll fall in love with Richmond Hill just as Henry and Clara Ford did in 1925. After just one visit, they chose this area as their winter home. Clara's dream house was built on the site of the Richmond Plantation, which was burned by General Sherman just as he ended his "March to the Sea" at nearby Fort McAllister. The Fords came to enjoy the unique scenery and wildlife in Richmond Hill.
