Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation (RWSIR) was founded by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1927 as a polio rehabilitation facility where patients could heal together. Since the invention of the polio vaccine, RWSIR has focused on medical and vocational rehabilitation. A one-hour tour is offered Monday through Friday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and includes the many historic landmarks of RWSIR since its beginning under President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
