This congregation is the oldest congregation in St. Marys. It was established in 1799 when George Clark was sent as a Missionary to the banks of the St.Marys River. The original chapel was built in 1812 and was later moved and a new chapel was constructed between 1856 & 1858. The chapel was spared burning during the Civil War because it was used as a butcher shop by the Ninth Maine Regiment. This congregation was also the home of Florida Methodism. Missionaries were sent out from this church down into Spanish Florida.
