Stately Oaks Plantation is a Greek Revival antebellum home in the land of "Gone With the Wind." An 1839 planter's home, the plantation has been preserved as a historic home available for both interior and grounds tours. The plantation grounds include the main house, Juddy's Country Store, a one-room school house, cook house and much more.

The plantation is open daily for tours Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the last tour beginning at 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Visitors will enjoy a CD player tour. On Saturdays, costumed docents guide visitors through the home.

Southern Plantation dinner and lunch tours may be arranged for groups of 24 or more. Authentically costumed guides and living history demonstrators, dancers and storytellers are available to bring you back to the days of Rhett and Scarlett.

    Take a step back in time to see what life was like as the Civil War came to Jonesboro, Georgia. The stories of this time told to Margaret Mitchell by her grandfather and many of the local people and places served as inspiration as she wrote Gone with the Wind. Living historians and tour guides in period dress will offer a glimpse into what life was like as the town was evacuated and Union soldiers arrived during the Battle of Jonesboro.
