Our friendly, progressive city is well-known for its distinctive parks, crowd-pleasing events, and attractive mixed-use developments. When you visit downtown Suwanee, you might want to bring along a towel…picnic basket…reading glasses…appetite…dancing shoes…and sense of fun. Downtown Suwanee is a delightful juxtaposition of old and new that includes two fabulous parks, an interactive water fountain, amphitheater stage, public library, and a growing number of boutique shops and restaurants offering home décor, art, wine, and women’s clothing as well as full-service meals, coffee and drinks, and yummy treats. The new Town Center is becoming the heart of the Suwanee community and center of activity. The mixed-use area is anchored by a 10-acre urban-style park that is home to Suwanee’s concerts, festivals, farmers market, and Gwinnett County’s largest interactive fountain, Big Splash. Town Center Park also has lots of open space and paved walkways, ideal for walking or jogging, kite-flying, or Frisbee-throwing. In the Old Town area, historic homes, churches, and storefronts date back as far as the 1870s. Along our charming historic Main Street, you’ll find the Suwanee branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library, an old caboose, Burnette-Rogers Pavilion, and Main Street Park. Kids will love PlayTown Suwanee, our great big, community-built playground. In addition to the parks in downtown Suwanee, the City boasts a lovely multipurpose trail, the Suwanee Creek Greenway, which meanders through four miles of woods, wetlands, and wildlife habitat. The trailhead for the greenway is at Suwanee Creek Park, an 85-acre passive recreational facility. Suwanee’s newest park is the idyllic Sims Lake Park, which includes a lake, trails, picnic pavilion, and open play areas.
