This working farm offers a variety of farm experiences from farm tours and events such as Sheep Shearing Day and Honey Harvest to classes on chickens, beekeeping and gardening and apprentice weekends where folks can stay at the farm and really get the true farm experience.
The Homestead Tour begins in the classroom with games to help children understand the food chain and where our food comes from. We’ll look at the inner workings of a beehive and try on some of the beekeeper’s clothing. Videos will show events that happen at other times of the year, like our kidding season.
Next, we’ll head outside to walk the farm and introduce all the animals; stroll through the orchard and vegetable gardens. We’ll stop at the hen house to see if there are any eggs to collect and end at the goat barn where all who are willing may try their hand at milking a goat!
If available, eggs and honey may also be purchased at the end of the tour.
