The "Red Door Cottage" is located in the quaint, historic district of Darien. It is a comfortable, pet-friendly two bedroom, one bath home built in 1906 and lovingly restored with all the modern 20th century conveniences. The home features high ceilings, hardwood floors, central heat and air as well as ceiling fans in most of the rooms for those that want that true southern feel. The entire home is showcased with many original works of art, from local artists to the artist's own paintings, as well as paintings done by Cape Cod artists (where the owners are from). The cozy covered front porch, with porch swing, opens into the front living area with the original "red door." This room is the place to relax when there is a chill in the air as it has a gas fireplace, large comfy sofa and two leather chairs. The sofa folds out to a queen-sized bed and makes a great sleeping area if needed. The room directly adjoining this would have been the formal dining area in 1906, but it is now furnished with a long, comfortable sofa and 32" flat-panel TV which makes it instantly into a top-notch media room. The kitchen has a new electric range, refrigerator and dishwasher with a lovely window over the sink that fills the room with nature light. It is equipt with all the dishes and utensils needed to prepare meals, including a toaster over, microwave and coffee pot. The "porch" room adjoining the kitchen is a great place to eat, containing a table for six, and two walls of large windows. Imagine sipping your morning coffee watching the sky lighten in early morning. The room is equipt with tile floors and a gate, making a perfect place to house your faithful four-legged companion, should the need arise. Situated on a quiet corner with Live oaks and plenty of Spanish moss, the "Red Door" is just three blocks from the Darien River Waterfront Park and Boat Dock. Rent or bring your own kayaks.
