Visit the famous Whistle Stop Café where the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes" was filmed. While you're there, enjoy a meal of Southern favorites like fried green tomatoes, pulled pork barbecue, fried chicken, peach cobbler and sweet tea.
The Whistle Stop Café building housed a general store from 1927 to 1972, and several reminders of the store, including meat scales and the cash register, can be seen in the café. After the general store closed, the building was used as a timber consultant/real estate office and then an antique shop before the filming of "Fried Green Tomatoes." After the filming in 1991, the "Original Whistle Stop Café" opened in the building and now welcomes visitors daily for mid-day meals.
