Tom Watson was born in this modest frame cottage in rural Columbia County, Georgia in 1856. He and his brothers and sisters lived in the cottage with their parents and grandfather. Years later, Watson would write about growing up on his grandfather's cotton plantation in the novel, "Bethany: A Story of the Old South." The cottage has been moved from its original location outside of Thomson and fully restored. It houses a collection of traditional furnishings and artifacts.
