Towns Bluff Heritage Center, located on the Altamaha River just eight miles north of Hazlehurst, GA, on Hwy. 221 N, acts as a Welcome and Meeting Center for Towns Bluff Park. Picnic shelters, beach, and bathrooms are available daily. 24 park-RV and camping sites, walking trails, welcome/heritage center and boat ramp on Altamaha River. One mile from confluence of the Ocmulgee, Oconee, and Altamaha Rivers. The Heritage Center houses an ever-growing museum of River and Indian artifacts, some dating back 28 million years. More recently, the historic Altamaha River was a "super highway" for timber rafts and steamboats carrying goods to and from the coast of Georgia.
