From the early 1800's to the present, the land known as Birdsong was transformed from pristine longleaf pine forest, to a plantation, then farm, and now a center for conservation and learning. Birdsong Nature Center's 565 acres are a rich mixture of wildflower meadow, old field, pine and hardwood forest, ponds and swamps and a sancturay for a myriad of birds and other wildlife. Walk the trails through each unique habitat or visit the Bird Window for an extraordinary and intimate bird-viewing experience. Relax and observe the vibrant and colorful butterflies in the Butterfly Garden from April to November or watch the engaging antics of the purple martins from January to July. Take part in one of Birdsong's guided walks or attend one of a number of year-round public programs and events. At Birdsong Nature Center you can enjoy the serenity and beauty of the natural landscape and return home with a renewed spirit.
