Five & Ten, which blends contemporary Southern food with French and Italian influences, was opened in 2000 by chef/owner Hugh Acheson, who later received national acclaim as a James Beard winner and Top Chef contestant and judge. The atmosphere remains relaxed and casual, but the service quality is always high. Hugh is a partner of The National in Athens, as well as Empire State South in Atlanta.

A three-course prix fixe menu is available nightly for 5:30 p.m., 5:45 p.m., and 6 p.m. reservations. The cost is just $36 per person for food, or $15 more for wine accompaniments.

In July 2013, Five & Ten moved into the historic Hawthorne House. The bar opens daily at 5 p.m., and dinner service begins at 5:30 p.m. Brunch is served on Sundays only from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Reservations can be made online using the reservation request form.
