This center for county genealogical research is located in the former sheriff's living quarters in one of the oldest jails in Georgia. Researchers will find a large collection of family history files and books on specific families and allied families. Information on Civil War and Revolutionary War Veterans is available.
The resource library is filled with books from other states as well as on Georgia and counties in Georgia. Microfilms of old newspapers, family Bibles and other historical information is available. A collection of county and city cemetery records can be found as well as obituaries.
Some African-American research information is available as well as resource information on slaves and slave owners.
Visitors will also view local historical items and furniture. Hear about Essie, the ghost when you visit.
Volunteers are available to assist researchers.
