U.S.11 Antique Alley is celebrated in each county on 502 miles of US 11 corridor. Towns along the route plan events -- festivals, antique sales, flea markets and yard sales, carnivals and other activities -- giving people an opportunity to get off the interstate highways and take the back roads through the "Heart of Dixie." Shop for treasures, eat great food, join the festivities or just enjoy the scenery and the friendly folks.
U.S. Highway 11 is itself an "antique" and is a route from the southernmost tip of Louisiana to New York state. The brain child of Tourism and Chamber of Commerce directors who formed the Antique Alley Association and felt confident the event could bring some 10,000 visitors, 30,000 came during the first three-day event. Antique dealers, flea market vendors and yard sale enthusiasts are expected to line the route from Meridian, Miss., through Birmingham, Ala., Dade County, Ga., and Chattanooga and Knoxville, Tenn., to end in Bristol, Va.
