Join The Georgia Conservancy for The Three Rivers Paddle and camping trip April 19-21, 2013. The trip will begin from Towns Bluff Park near Hazlehurst and will feature sections of the Ocmulgee, Oconee and Altamaha Rivers.
Participants will camp at Towns Bluff Park on Friday evening. Saturday morning, a shuttle will carry paddlers and their canoes or kayaks to Lumber City to paddle down the Ocmulgee River, through the confluence of the Oconee and the Ocmulgee and into the Altamaha, ending back at Towns Bluff for a cookout and live bluegrass music. On Sunday, paddlers will leave from Towns Bluff Park and go 9 miles south on the Altamaha.
Camping space is limited, and a limited amount of camping gear is available from the Georgia Conservancy, free of charge. Canoe rental is $25 per person.
The Georgia Conservancy will provide dinners on Friday and Saturday night for guests who purchase meals. Bring your own breakfast and lunch.
Sponsored by the Georgia Canoe Association and hosted by the Hazlehurst-Jeff Davis Board of Tourism, the Three Rivers Paddle is one of nine Heartland Rivers of Georgia trips featuring camping, paddling and stewardship in south and central Georgia.
