In partnership: Madison-Morgan Conservancy, Morgan County Landmarks Society ​ The cotton industry dictated the present-day Morgan County and the Piedmont region as we know it now, including landscape, business, culture, and pace of life. The King Cotton symposium will present the history and importance of the cotton industry in the Georgia Piedmont region and the greater South. This afternoon will also feature the premiere of the Morgan County Landmarks Society brief film featuring firsthand interviews with cotton field workers and how the work shaped their lives and their descendants. Program features: Cotton Culture before Emancipation, Historian Brad Rice KEYNOTE: Cotton Cultural after Emancipation, Dr. Scott Nesbit ​Voices from the Fields, film premiere Panel discussion: Cotton Culture Today & Tomorrow, Patsy Harris, Dr. Nesbit, representatives from the Georgia Cotton Commission
