The Albany Civic Center negotiates with groups, firms and individuals to provide a wide variety of attractions for citizens from throughout Southwest Georgia. Evangelist Ralph Bell of Billy Graham ministries, popular singer Elton John and rock bands Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top recently appeared at the Civic Center. The arena also hosts high school and college basketball and a variety of exhibitions and conventions.

    The City of Albany will hold the annual Independence Day Fireworks Celebration on Saturday, July 4 at the Civic Center. Food and beverage vendors will be on hand starting at 5 p.m. The opening ceremony will take place at Veteran's Amphitheater at 8:45 p.m., with the fireworks starting at 9:30 p.m. from the southeast parking lot of the Civic Center.
