With a history spanning over 30 years, the museum presents various exhibitions each year in eight different gallery spaces. Our exhibition program is designed to reflect diverse cultures, periods, aesthetic styles, and movements. The Albany Museum of Art houses an impressive permanent collection, which includes one of the largest collections of sub-Saharan African art in the Southeast.
Our AMAzing Space Gallery provides interactive learning through hands-on experiences for children of all ages.
Admission is free but donations are welcome to those that support the arts.

The Albany Museum of Art is now offering the after-school program to young teens from grades 6 to 8. They will have the opportunity to explore the visual language of art through drawing, painting and sculpting while using a variety of techniques, media and materials. They will learn to use line, shape, form, value and space to improve their art skills in understanding and appreciating art in context through art history, art criticism and studio art techniques.

Full Spectrum Wildlife Exhibition Opening

The Evans Gallery is the home to our wildlife collection, and this year we are bringing more color to the exhibit. We have brought out some of our major wildlife pieces for this show, such as Ripley's Quails in Flight, as well as a few J.J. Audubon and Menaboni pieces. Juxtaposing the traditional with the playful, we have included Theodore Waddell's whimsical Longhorn Drawing #10.
