    Every year since 1980, Mule Day has been one of Wilkes County's biggest festivals and attractions. Held the second Saturday in October each year at Callaway Plantation, Mule Day Southern Heritage Festival is a celebration of plantation life in the Old South with mule contests, primitive demonstrations, food, arts & crafts, music and fun for the whole family. This event is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.
