Why, Baby, Why: The Music of George Jones and Tammy Wynette

Dates : 4/16/15 - 4/25/15
McClure Theatre at the Springer
103 10th Street
Columbus, GA 31901

With the recent passing of Nashville legend George Jones we were reminded of the rare talent that he was. In tribute, the Springer is staging this rhinestones-and-denim concert show featuring the music he wrote and performed with the great Tammy Wynette. Together and separately, they were country music royalty with 30 No. 1 hits and nine marriages between them - including the volatile one they shared. This theatre concert spotlights the songs that put George and Tammy in the Country Music Hall of Fame. Their rise from dirt-poor beginnings to country music fame make these songs all the more special: "The Grand Tour," "Golden Ring," "Stand By Your Man," "The Window Up Above," "D-I-V-O-R-C-E," "The One I Loved Back Then," "White Lightnin'" and, of course, "Why Baby Why."

Performances at 7:30 p.m., Thursdays-Saturdays, April 16-18 and April 23-25, and at 2:30, Sunday, April 19.
