In June, Cordele and Crisp County celebrate what they are known best for: watermelons! One of the oldest festivals in the state of Georgia, people from all over travel to participate in the many events and activities that pay tribute to the fruit that makes the county the Watermelon Capital of the World. The primary weekend is the fourth weekend of June, when you can enjoy the parade, watermelon eating, chunking and seed spit contests, and arts and crafts and entertainment!
