Come to the Peacock Festival May 11, 2013, and find out how the town of Pavo (the Latin word for peacock) got such an interesting name. This annual event is sponsored by the Pavo Civic Club and is held the second Saturday every May. The festival begins at 9 a.m. with arts and crafts, food booths, and fun activities, including a pie eating contest, peacock calling, sack races and more. Musical entertainment will feature the Granvil Jones Band.
At 11 a.m., watch Pavo's mascot, Charlie the Peacock, strut through town as the star of the Peacock Day Parade. Each year, the Peacock Community Quilters carry on the tradition of donating a Peacock Quilt to be raffled during the event. Maybe you will be the lucky winner this year!
