This National Historic Landmark, built in the early 19th century, is the original home of prominent Cherokee leader, Major Ridge. Artifacts discovered on the grounds behind the house, as well as other materials relating to the removal of the Cherokees from the Georgia area, are on display. Special events throughout the year further explore the Cherokee heritage of northwest Georgia. The home is also a nationally designated site along the Trail of Tears.
