The Rattlesnake Roundup is a fundraiser for the Whigham Community Club featuring 250 arts and crafts vendors, concessions, snake handling and cooking demonstrations, prizes to snake hunters, entertainment and children's rides. What started as a small, unusual, club project in 1960 to control the local rattlesnake population has become an annual feature of the community that attracts national attention by the press and other news media.

Farmers, forestry experts and other community members bring their collected snakes to the event where reptile experts give educational lectures and demonstrations. One popular demonstration shows how Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnakes are milked for their venom, which is used for medical research.

This is one of the premier events in the Southeast and is always held the last Saturday in January in Whigham, Georgia. The Rattlesnake Roundup attracts approximately 25,000 visitors each year.
