Visit the McDuffie Museum for the grand opening of the "New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music" exhibit in Thomson. Author Peter Guralnick, whose books include the prize-winning two-volume biography of Elvis Presley and "Searching for Robert Johnson: The Life and Legend of the 'King of the Delta Blues Singers'" will be the guest speaker.
Thomson native Chris Crenshaw and his Quartet also will perform. A native of Thomson and a graduate of Valdosta State and the Julliard School of Music, Crenshaw currently holds a trombone chair in the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra in New York City.
The New Harmonies exhibit explores the early traditions, history, culture and origins of American music, and will be on display in Thomson until May 11, 2013.
