Heritage Sandy Springs is a nonprofit that builds community through the preservation and promotion of the historic and cultural identity of Sandy Springs. Through a public/private partnership with the City of Sandy Springs, Heritage Sandy Springs manages and operates the 4-acre Heritage Green parksite in the heart of the city. Heritage Green is the home of the original springs, for which the city is named, a tiered outdoor entertainment lawn that plays hosts to many outdoor concerts and performances each year, the Heritage Sandy Springs Museum at the Williams-Payne House and a state-of-the-art, recently renovated, facility available for special event rentals.

A true "people's park," Heritage Green enriches the quality of life for Sandy Springs residents and visitors through recreational, historical and educational opportunities. Heritage Sandy Springs presents numerous public programs, including the annual Sandy Springs Festival, Concerts by the Springs, Movin' Groovin' Mornings, and a variety of educational programs at the Heritage Sandy Springs Museum.

    The Doug Kessler Sandy Springs Lightning 10K has been one of the fastest 10K races in the state of Georgia for the last 26 years. Designed for runners who enjoy a flat course through the lovely Sandy Springs community and neighborhoods, this is one of the most popular Peachtree Road Race Qualifiers and has grown to include a 5K race. The race will be held on September 17 at 7 a.m. Finishers receive moisture-wicking, tech running shirts and free admission to the Sandy Springs Festival.
