The 20th Annual Bear on the Square Mountain Festival celebrates Southern Appalachian music, art and culture. Pre-festival events occur on Friday before the weekend event, with jammers arriving on Dahlonega's Historic Square during the day, and a Live and Silent Country Auction/dinner in the MainStage tent at night.

Free bluegrass and old-time music concerts take place both days of the festival in the MainStage tent. A juried artist market will fill the town's Historic Square with handmade pottery, photography, folk art, wood crafts, fiber crafts and more. The festival offers a two-day schedule of free workshops, storytelling, dancers, food, an open mic event, and a Sunday morning Gospel Jam. This year, there will be special activities to observe the festival's 20th year.
