HEADLINERS ANNOUNCED FOR ATHFEST MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL

First wave of Acts Announced for 2017 Festival

AthFest Educates announced a first wave of headliners for the 21st annual AthFest Music & Arts Festival, which will take place June 23rd to 25th in historic downtown Athens, with affiliated events starting June 20th. This year’s outdoor stage headliners include Futurebirds, Drivin’ n Cryin’, Zach Deputy and Roadkill Ghost Choir.

In addition to the outdoor stages, the AthFest Club Crawl includes shows at a dozen local music venues following the free outdoor stage performances. This year’s Club Crawl headliners will include Cindy Wilson (of The B-52s) Band, Daisy and Mosaic at the Georgia Theatre, with of Montreal, New Madrid, and Bobby’s Shorts at the 40 Watt. Cine will host the 4th ATHfactor Entertainment Many Faces of Hip- Hop Saturday June 24th.

Troy Aubrey, music chair for AthFest says he is excited that this year’s headliners represent the history of Athens music, with some longstanding leaders, as well as some representing the current landscape and where it is going.

“We’ve got bands like Drivin’ n Cryin’ and musicians like Cindy Wilson from the B-52s, who have influenced the music scene here since the 80s, of Montreal who have been an essential part of the musical fabric here since the 90s, and then homegrown acts new to the scene like New Madrid and Roadkill Ghost Choir representing what’s now in Athens music. It’s a great sampling and will be a lot of fun!”

Wristbands for Club Crawl shows are available now at AthFest.com at the early bird price of $20 throughApril, when they go up to $22 in May and $25 in June.
