Amicalola Falls is a great family destination for the adventure-set. Located in Dawsonville, Geroriga, Amicalola Falls is the tallest waterfall east of the Mississippi River (729 feet). Plan to spend the day hiking the many trails, ranging from short journeys to an eight mile approach trail that will lead you to Springer Mountain, the southern end of the Appalachian Trail. When you're ready to rest, all will be pleased with the options, ranging from camping, to the Lodge, which is more hotel-like, to the Len Foote Hike Inn, reachable by a 5 mile hike.
