If you plan on visiting Georgia, make sure you take the time to experience the breathtaking colors of Georgia’s Providence Canyon in Lumpkin, also known as Little Grand Canyon, where the soil creates a natural painting at this unique park.  You can enjoys views of the canyon from the rim trail, and you can even camp overnight along the backpacking trail.

In Lumpkin you’ll also find Historic Westville, an outdoor living-history museum that depicts an 1850 west Georgia village. The town has more than 30 restored and furnished antebellum houses, stores and businesses, churches, and a school and courthouse. Westville tour guides wear period dress, too, so your visit whisks you back more than 150 years in time! Schedule a trip to the Bedingfield Inn, an 1836 hotel that was a stop along the stagecoach route between Americus and the state of Alabama. There are no overnight accommodations at this inn, but you can take a tour of the old hotel. Note the separate entrances for ladies and gentlemen at the front! There is also camping and cottages for rent at the nearby Florence Marina State Park. Take home a souvenir of your trip from the Merritt Pecan Co. in nearby Weston. This is one of the best areas for growing pecans, and here you can buy plain pecans or candy and gift items.
