Head to McCaysville, which sits on the state line across from Copperhill, Tennessee. You can stand on the blue line, hopping between states, then explore the charming downtowns.

Safely (or Virtually) Visit Blue Ridge's Attractions

From apple orchards to a drive-in theater, Blue Ridge has plenty of places to explore safely. Mercier Orchards is a popular destination year-round, but especially for shopping for apple products in the fall. Face coverings are required, and the tasting room and cafe are currently closed, but you can still treat yourself to fresh produce and other goodies in the shop.

Experience an old-school drive-in theater at Swan Drive-In, which dates back to 1955. The theater plays first-run films to enjoy from the comfort of your car. Tip: the drive-in only takes cash.

Or, maybe you'd like to relax with a spa day. Serenity in the Mountains Spa is one of the state's most unique spa experiences. Visitors can book a couples massage in one of the treehouses at the spa for romantic atmosphere. They also offer facials and a salt cave.

Blue Ridge is home to craft breweries like the pet-friendly Grumpy Old Men and Fannin Brewing, both with outdoor seating, and wineries Bear Claw Vineyards and Serenberry Vineyards are great places to pick up a bottle of wine. Bear Claw also has live music and picnics.

Dine In or Take Out

Blue Ridge's restaurants have safety protocols in place like table distances, and some are only offering takeout or outdoor dining, so call ahead to confirm before going. Start your day with a boost from Das Kaffee Haus, a European-style coffee shop serving drinks from Atlanta roaster Batdorf & Bronson. They also have desserts and pastries like strudels, cinnamon rolls, and doughnuts.

Masseria Kitchen & Bar sits along the town’s railroad tracks, so you can watch the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway trains come and go. It has a selection of Italian favorites, including homemade pasta, pizza, small plates, and craft cocktails. Hours are subject to change, so call before you go. For fine dining and craft cocktails, head to the Black Sheep Restaurant, which has the town's largest patio outside the historic home under a 200-year-old oak tree. 

Set in a former hotel in the historic downtown, Chester Brunnenmeyer’s Bar & Grill has a little bit of everything but focuses on Southern dishes like rainbow trout and burgers. They also have a great craft beer selection. The restaurant is currently limiting dining times under a wait list for safety.

Spend the Night

Blue Ridge is a great place to stay if you want to get away to a mountain cabin with your loved ones.
