New Harmonies focuses on American roots music and explores the on-going cultural process that has made America the birthplace of more music than any place on Earth.
National History Day pulls students out of the textbook to learn about history firsthand. Competitions occur at the regional, state, and national levels.

The Georgia Humanities Council, founded in 1971, is a nonprofit organization working to ensure that humanities and culture remain an integral part of the lives of Georgians. We are a statewide affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities and are among the first of 56 state humanities councils founded in the nation.

The Georgia Humanities Council presents stories and ideas that help individuals understand themselves and others, and provides opportunities for continual learning, personal reflection and thoughtful discussion. The Georgia Humanities Council works with libraries, museums and other cultural and educational institutions to carry out each program.
