FDR State Park has Affordable Holiday Events for the Entire Family
Get into the holiday spirit without spending a fortune at F.D. Roosevelt State Park in Pine Mountain. This is Georgia's largest state park and a favorite with hikers and backpackers. But you don’t have to head out on the trail to enjoy this state park. They have lots of ranger-led programs, including some wonderful family-friendly holiday events you don't want to miss.
Saddle-Up with Santa
There aren't a whole lot of reindeer in Georgia and it’s a bit difficult to travel by sleigh, so it’s no wonder the big man in red is doing a little improvising by traveling on horseback. Saddle up and celebrate the season on a beautiful 1-hour guided winter ride through the woodlands alongside Santa. Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, 10:45 a.m. – 12 p.m. $35 per person.
Fairy House Contest
Did your Christmas elves have a special home during the holidays? Bring it to F.D. Roosevelt State Park for a special Fairy Tour of Homes and Fairy House Contest. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017. 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. $8 per house.
Candy Shoot Target Archery
What could be better than shooting arrows? Winning candy, that’s what. Don’t worry, your New Year’s resolution hasn’t kicked in yet. F.D. Roosevelt rangers will provide basic archery instruction, equipment and, of course, candy prizes. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017. 12 – 2 p.m. $8 per person.
