March 15-18, 2018, Callaway Resort & Gardens will be your friendly host to the inaugural Sip & Savor Spring event. Join in on the fun culinary weekend full of delicious bites, cool drinks, and countless opportunities to explore the grounds. This event is a coming together of the region's top chefs, beverage experts, and state artisans to welcome sunny spring to our beautiful Georgia.
Where We're Celebrating
If there's any telltale sign that spring has arrived, it's the full bloom of flowers. And what better place to cheers to spring than the peaceful Callaway Gardens, which features a world-famous azalea garden with more than 20,000 native and cultivated azaleas. Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains at Pine Mountain, the resort is an upscale getaway into nature. During your visit, stop into town to visit Pine Mountain’s antique shops, explore their eateries and enjoy relaxing nature trails that lead to some unbeatable views.
How We're Celebrating
The weekend will begin with the James Beard Foundation Celebrity Chef Tour Dinner. Attend an intimate, multi-course dinner prepared by chefs awarded and nominated by the prestigious James Beard Foundation, including David Bancroft, Nathalie Dupree, Kenny Gilbert and more. The dynamic meals will be paired with hand-selected wines from Master sommeliers and renowned winemakers to create a one-of-a-kind gourmet evening.
On Friday, spend the afternoon learning the ins and outs of your favorite sips and savory bites at the Bloom Master Class Series. Experts will teach you the key to a successful butterfly garden, how to cook with herbs and edible flowers and the secret to a quintessential Southern biscuit — all while you're sipping on selected wines and craft brew tastings.
The Sip & Savor namesake event is a culinary evening under the stars. Make the rounds at food and beverage booths run by the region’s best, including B’s Cracklin’ Barbecue, Certified Burgers & Beverage, and Acre while enjoying live music and an auction benefitting the Ida Cason Callaway Foundation. And music by the Mango Strange band.
Saturday morning, you'll want to come hungry and ready to cheer at the Waffle House Showdown. Root for celebrity chefs David Bancroft, Jennifer Hill Booker, David Carrier and Chris Hall as they compete head-to-head for the title of “Waffle House Master Chef.” Watch it all go down while munching at the Waffle House breakfast buffet and sipping on champagne and Bloody Marys.
Tastings Under the Big Top is the main event you won’t want to miss out on! Go for seconds — and thirds — at food and beverage exhibitors (wine, beer and spirits), swing by chef demonstrations and cookbook signings, and explore the state's best homemade products at the Georgia Grown Market. The Sip Cocktail Challenge will be a people's choice competition where guests get to vote for their favorite bartender's creations. The soulful sounds of Lloyd Buchanan and friends will keep the fun and lively vibe going throughout the day!
And wrap up the weekend lakeside at Sunday's Longleaf Brunch. Fill your plate with all your brunch must-haves at the all-you-can-eat-and-drink buffet with champagne and Bloody Mary bars, live music and more to end the celebration and officially cheers to the start of spring.

Every ticket to an event includes admission to the gardens, good for the day of the ticket. Tickets are all inclusive, including all tasting bites and beverage tastings.
The weekend’s events will benefit the Ida Cason Callaway Foundation, whose mission is to reconnect man with nature. The proceeds will go toward plans for expansion, care for the gardens and further development of their educational programs
