Banks Lake

Lakeland

Lakeland is known as "The City of Murals" for the many unique murals throughout town that depict life in early Lakeland. Over 30 life-size murals have been painted on downtown buildings, depicting citizens and landscapes from photographs circa the 1920s. All the murals are in a five-block radius, except for one, so it is easily walked. Plan 1-2 hours to view our murals, take pictures and eat lunch. This is something to enjoy in a leisurely manner.

Lakeland is renowned for its annual Flatlanders Frolic held in October at the Threatte Center. For over 40 years, the Flatlanders Frolic has been a cherished tradition in Lakeland, drawing visitors from all over the Southeast.
