As the destination for both the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway and the Tennessee Valley Railroad, the twin towns of McCaysville, Georgia, and Copperhill, Tennessee, are experiencing a revival – with new shops, restaurants, parks and streetscapes. The Riverwalk Shops and new visitor center on the Toccoa River in McCaysville are two must-dos during your visit to the basin. The Riverwalk has restaurants on the river and several shops in a revitalized complex of market-style buildings.

McCaysville is home to Rolling Thunder River Company, which offers whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River – a 10-minute bus ride away. Rolling Thunder and Toccoa River Tubing Company offer tubing and kayaking on the Toccoa River. Horseshoe Bend Park is also located in McCaysville and is well known for its Pickin' in the Park on Thursday evenings, May through September.
