National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Pooler, Georgia
Pooler

Pooler is a beautiful community just west of Savannah. Famous for the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum, it also offers outdoor activities at Tom Triplett Community Park. It is the site of Lock #3 of the Savannah/Ogeechee Canal System that dates to pre-Civil War times. Still visible today, are remains of the gatekeeper’s house and 142 Civil War tent mounds from Sherman’s Army. The park is the perfect place to enjoy the great outdoors. Enjoy a stroll, jog or bike ride around the massive lake on a paved and lighted path. Test your skills on one of the region's largest disc golf courses, or take a peaceful kayak ride down the park's clean, long, deep and winding lake. Regular festivals and community activities keep this park a Pooler favorite throughout the year. The Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum preserves for all Americans the stories of courage, character and patriotism displayed by the men and women of the Eighth Air Force from World War II to the present.
