Red Hot Chili Cookoff, St. Simons Island

My family loves anything that has to do with a taste test. Not only is the Red Hot Chili Cookoff sure to fill them up, it lets them explore a variety of tastes and vote for a winner. The 2019 festival is set for March 2 at Postell Park. Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the gate.

Irish Balloon Fest & Glow, Dublin

The night sky will come alive with the Irish Balloon Fest & Glow at night. During the day, numerous balloons float across the Georgia sky in a race to the finish. This unique event gives kids a great opportunity to take pictures and videos with their tablets. The 2019 festival will be March 8-9. Admission to the event is free.

Claxton Rattlesnake and Wildlife Festival, Hagan

If snakes make you squirm, the Claxton Rattlesnake and Wildlife Festival may not be the festival for you, but if your child loves animals, this event is one you won’t want to miss. The 2019 festival will run March 9-10. Admission is $8 for adults. Children 5 years old and younger get in free.

International Cherry Blossom Festival, Macon

Two weeks of family-friendly fun are planned for the annual International Cherry Blossom Festival. From the parade to the bed races to trying new foods at the Food Truck Frenzy, there is something to fill every day of the festival that your children will love. The 2019 festival runs March 22-31. Admission to many events and the parade is free. 

Atlanta Science Festival, Atlanta

The two-week-long Atlanta Science Festival features demonstrations and learning activites throughout the Atlanta metro area, but the big, can’t-miss event is the Exploration Expo. Set up in Piedmont Park, the free event offers children and adults the opportunity to see science in action and even participate in a few experiments. The 2019 festival runs March 9-23, with the Expo on March 23.

Sheep to Shawl, Atlanta

Each year, the Atlanta History Center brings into focus the traditions, people and work that made Georgia what it is today. Sheep to Shawl welcomes guests to enjoy a day "on the farm" where they can be entertained by a bevy of live animals, listen to storytelling, watch blacksmithing, participate in candle making and much more. Admission to the April event is included with regular admission.
