The Hartwell Railroad was established in 1877, connecting Hartwell, Georgia to the Charlotte, Atlanta and Richmond Air Line Railway. In 2017, the Railroad Street Park was established to celebrate the city's history and provide a community gathering space. The park features playgrounds, murals, and a renovated Depot building that now houses a museum and event space. The renovations to the Depot were completed in 2018, and the park continues to be a popular destination for locals and visitors alike.
