The Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade is the culmination of a week-long observance of the civil rights leader that attracts participants from the surrounding coastal counties. Each year, this parade highlights the sense of community in Liberty County and celebrate the footprints Dr. King made here when he, and other civil rights leaders, came and trained at the Historic Dorchester Academy. The Dorchester Academy served as the planning site for the historic Birmingham March. The parade begins at 10 am, and concludes near noon where there will be a commemorative service held at Bradwell Institute. Events are free and open to the public.
