Jontavious Willis Releases Second LP with Help from Taj Mahal, Keb’ Mo’

Young Greenville, Georgia, bluesman Jontavious Willis has released the follow-up to his debut album, 2016's "Blue Metamorphosis." Well-established blues musicians Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’ are big fans of the 22-year-old multi-instrumentalist, and they played key roles in the production of the brand new "Spectacular Class:" Taj as executive producer and Keb’ as producer.

“He’s a great new voice of the 21st Century in the acoustic blues,” Taj Mahal notes of Willis (pictured with Mahal). “He has really just delightful timing and a real voice for the music because he was raised in the tradition and the culture… The way he tunes his guitar is just amazing. There’s not a bluesman alive that could pick his instrument up and play it. You’d have to sit there for a good while to figure those tunings out.

“I had an opportunity to have him grace my stage when I came to Atlanta,” Mahal continues. “He had a thunderous response from the audience… We are all lucky to be at this point when this man is starting to launch what is going to be an incredible and long career.”

"Spectacular Class" is available on CD, vinyl and digital.
