The Bitteroots Turn 11 With Release of New Album, 'Derailer'

Decatur-based band The Bitteroots released their latest CD "Derailer" on March 15, 2019. The album was written and recorded over the course of 2018 at Sarlaac Mastering & Music Production Co., the studio of Bitteroots saxophonist Derron Nuhfer.

The band debuted in spring 2008, with bassist Bill Taylor and drummer Michael Davis remaining from the original lineup. Lead singer Laura Dees (ex-Rockin’ Pontoons) joined in 2010. They have four prior studio albums and a live album under their belts.

The quintet will be opening the Amplify Decatur Festival (headlined by Mavis Staples and Jeff Tweedy) on April 13, 2019, and will play a pair of headlining shows at Eddie’s Attic in May to mark their 11th year as a band.
