The Brooks County Museum and Cultural Center, located in historic downtown Quitman, GA, is a hidden gem of a museum, housing artifacts that span Brooks County's history from its founding to modern times.
Handwritten documents about homes share shelves with arrow heads and handmade garments. Everything is on display to the public, and the sheer breadth and depth of the collections are astounding. Plan to spend several hours examining everything that the Museum has on exhibit.
(Special visiting hours available upon request.)
The displays are categorized under the following: Brooks County's Founding; Plantation/Early Homes; Industries/Merchants/Buildings; Agriculture/Forestry; Military; Recreation, Entertainment/Fine Arts/Sports; Home Life; Education; Religion/Churches; and Public/Professional Services.
The Museum also houses The Camellia Room, a meeting and event space available for rent to the public. For more information, please contact Sheila Selph 229-263-6000.
