The Bulloch County Foundation for Public Education will host its 12th Annual Statesboro 5K Turkey Trot on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m., in downtown Statesboro, Georgia. The event is open to runners and walkers of all ages as individuals or teams of five or more. For sponsorship opportunities email foundationBCPE@bullochschools.org. Pre-registration is preferred to guarantee a t-shirt. Early Bird race packet pick up is on Fri., Nov. 22, from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m., at the Bulloch County Board of Education, located at 150 Williams Road, in Statesboro.

The course will wind through Statesboro's historic retail and residential areas. This is the same route as the Run the Boro 5K held each December. These are the only two races in Bulloch County which continue to draw participants to this scenic route where they can enjoy historic architecture, cozy neighborhoods, and fall foliage while they run, and unique attractions like the Averitt Center for the Arts' main gallery and the Statesboro Farmers Market when they finish.

This is a complete schedule of race day activities:
• 8:00 a.m. On-site registration begins at 8 a.m. on the Bulloch County Courthouse, located on East Main Street in Statesboro.
• 8:45 a.m. - A free mascot run is at 8:45 a.m. No registration is required. Simply have your business or school mascot arrive by 8:15 a.m. to the Courthouse Square for line up. Mascots may wear tennis shoes if their costumes allow it.
• 9:00 a.m. - 1K fun run for ages 12 and under.
• 9:30 a.m. - 5K Turkey Trot for runners and walkers of all ages. Check in is at the Courthouse Square. Race will begin just down East Main Street in front of Statesboro City Hall.
• 11:00 a.m. - Awards ceremony for all age divisions. Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place male and female winners in the Turkey Trot Run in 14 age divisions from age 12- and-under to 70+. Results will be posted on www.coolrunning.com and www.runninintheusa.com.

All proceeds (100%) benefit these K-12 education programs, teachers and students in Bulloch County:
• Annual seed capital investment of $7,500 in Bulloch County Schools' REACH Georgia Scholarship program which awards $10,000 college scholarships to identified graduates each year with participating post-secondary institutions double or triple-matching the scholarship
• Annual $1,000 grant to Bulloch County Teacher of the Year
• Annual awards of $20,000+ in innovation grants to Bulloch County Schools' teachers
• Sustaining partner of Bulloch's STAR student/teacher program

Since 2006, the Bulloch County Foundation for Public Education has funded learning experiences totaling more than $250,000 for Bulloch County children and teachers. The Foundation's main fundraisers are the Statesboro 5K Turkey Trot and the Bulloch County Schools' voluntary payroll deduction program.
