A lone osprey greets the morning tide on Dickinson Creek in front of the B&B.

With luxurious country lodging and gourmet dining, Dunham Farms appeals to those who enjoy a quiet, secluded and beautiful break from the rest of the world. Overnight guests are nestled in the middle of 6,000 private acres of forests, marshes and fields. At the heart of Dunham Farms is a 30-acre estate with sweeping lawns, oak groves, expansive marsh views, historic gardens, and miles of private trails abounding with wildlife.

Perched in an old pecan orchard on a high bluff overlooking unspoiled tidal creeks and beautiful, wildlife-filled salt marsh, this once abandoned barn remembers Palmyra Plantation in its working-farm days when horses and mules plowed hundreds of acres of corn and came home to rest at day's end. Their living quarters have now been restored and modernized into 9 charming guest rooms.

In the old days fields, interspersed with creeks, woods and marshes, the lands extended from the barn to Sunbury, 3 miles away. It was a perfect place to search for Indian pottery and Civil War buttons or to wait at the edge of a misty marsh to watch wild horses. Little has changed. It was and is a magic place...quiet, private, alive with history, wildlife and astonishing natural beauty.

The large guest rooms and spacious suites at Palmyra Barn B&B Inn are fully climate controlled and each has a private bathroom. There are thousands of pristine acres of elbow room all around it, with grassy trails for hiking, biking, birding and riding, not to mention flat water kayaking for almost touchable enjoyment of rare birds, dolphins and other wildlife.

The Cottage has a large central hall, 14-foot ceilings and antique windows. Four equally-sized rooms are arranged on either side of the hall – a living room (with queen-sized sofabed), a queen bedroom with lavatory, a dining room and a twin bedroom.

This coastal Georgia farm has been owned and operated by the same family since 1755. The farm offers overnight accommodations, including for small groups, seasonal garden tours, kayaking, luncheons, facilities for small meetings, retreats and weddings.
