Len Foote Hike Inn

Len Foote Hike Inn

Tips for an Unforgettable Stay at the Hike Inn

Leave the camping gear behind and hike to Georgia's only backcountry eco-lodge, Hike Inn. This relaxed mountain getaway begins along a 5-mile trail at the top of stunning Amicalola Falls. One of Backpacker magazine's, “Best American Hikes,” the trail winds among towering oaks, climbing mild ridges, and dipping through rhododendrons at stream crossings to reach the front porch of the Len Foote Hike Inn. Give yourself 2-3 hours to enjoy the Hike Inn trail, with extra time to walk trails with great views of Amicalola Falls.

Only accessible via hiking trails, the rustic lodge offers a friendly, laid-back atmosphere with all the creature comforts missed while camping. Cozy rooms sleep two to three on built-in bunk beds with pillows, blankets, a heater for warmth, and a fan for summer. Hike Inn features family-style dining on delicious meals, a game room loaded with family-friendly board games and puzzles, and a clean bath house.

Greet the morning at sunrise, near the inn's unique celestial calendar. Tour the history and conservation efforts of Hike Inn with outgoing staff in the afternoon, and don't miss the naturalist's impressive evening presentation on Georgia's natural wonders. Guests may end the adventure with a hike back to the falls, or continue on the approach to the Appalachian Trail at Springer Mountain.
