Experiences for The Walking Dead Super Fans

Perhaps no show has left a greater impact on the state of Georgia than “The Walking Dead.”

You might have replicated the season 1 photo on Atlanta's Jackson Street Bridge or chowed down at Senoia's Nic & Norman's. But have you done these TWD superfan experiences? Fans can track down hundreds of filming locations, but all of these are open to the public or available for booking.

Go on the Survivor "Death Tour"

By the dumpster in Hampton

Visit the places where multiple characters met their ends. Near Griffin, stop by the railroad tracks where Denise gets shot through the eye with an arrow, the building where Noah enters the grisly revolving door of death, and the site of the "Bob-B-Q." And don't miss the spot in Hampton where Nicholas and Glenn are stuck on the Dumpster.

Learn to fight like Rick's crew

While not featured on the show, there are a few places around the state where you can pretend you’re a Survivor. At Tank Town USA in Morganton, you can hang out in a tank like Rick did in Season 1 or shoot a machine gun like Abraham. To learn Daryl's archery skills, head over to Panola Mountain State Park to take part in one of their ranges. Pick up Morgan's aikido practices at the Aikido Center of Atlanta

Let the Sheriff officiate your wedding

Senoia Rick (Alan Conlan) will provide customized nuptials for your pre-apocolyptic ceremony overlooking Woodbury and Alexandria.

While the relationships in the zombie apocalypse can be tricky, there's no better way for fans to seal their love for one another than having a Rick Grimes impersonator officiate the ceremony. Georgia Mercantile in Senoia offers a "Walking Wed" package with Alan Conlan in the downtown gazebo or the nearby pedestrian bridge over the train tracks.

Sleep like the Dead

Alexandria in Senoia

Alexandria in Senoia

Did you know that the Alexandria set in Senoia is a real neighborhood? Four families call this place home, but you can only enter if you're a resident or member of the cast or crew. There are a few places nearby, however, that are almost as good. The Veranda Historic Bed & Breakfast Inn in downtown Senoia is a 1906 Greek Revival home that is just down the road from the set of the show. While not featured on screen, some of the younger stars of the show stayed here before they had their own trailers.

Chandler Riggs ("Carl") and his parents rent out their family home in Senoia, a former church, decorated for the biggest fans. And superfans can also sleep in the apartment where Morgan stayed in the "Clear" episode. The actual apartment in Grantville has been recreated for tours, but you can stay in the apartment next door. The sprawling space has its own kitchen and Dead-themed bedrooms.

Geek out with fellow Walker Stalkers

While Walker Stalker Con has locations around the world, Atlanta's Walking Dead convention is hands down the best. It has the most members of the cast because they're always filming nearby, and the level of local love is unmatched. Held every Halloween weekend, expect cast panels, photo ops, booths of the graphic novels and other gear, and plenty of cosplay. Other zombie and horror genre characters are also there, making it the must-attend event for fans.
