The Cotton South is a place, a time, and a state of mind. It represents the past, but also embraces the present and future. It implies class distinction, yet in actuality is a merging of all classes, economies and viewpoints. We chose The Cotton South as the namesake for our art festival because we believe that our town, Madison, Georgia, is the perfect embodiment of these diverse, sometimes contrasting influences, and is recognized internationally as a select destination.
In our first year, we're hosting the work of nationally and internationally reknowned artists against the backdrop of "The #1 Small Town in America" (Travel Holiday), Madison, Ga. Madison is a beautiful and historic community with a rich antebellum character. The combination of The Cotton South and Madison promises to be an extraordinary experience.
